Hello everyone. So accounting. Who would have ever thought that accounting would require social media, let alone a blog? Not me that’s for sure! I’m sure my eyebrows rose off my face when I first read that I was required to make a blog. I’m not the most tech savvy person so am feeling a little out of my element with all of this newness.
Oh I have all the typical technological conveniences of today, smart phone, laptop, internet, etc, but this blogging thing is definitely an entire new experience. Isn’t the saying ‘From little things big things grow’? If that’s the case then I can’t wait to watch this blog grow, get bigger and better.
Ok, enough of all that and a little about me. I am a mother of 4 plus stepmother of 2, so of course we are often called the Brady Bunch. Of the 6 children 4 have diagnosed ASD so I am kept just a little bit busy with all that special needs entails. On top of that I am the stereotypical soccer mum, driving a van (let’s get real a minivan with 6 kids is just not comfortable at all) dropping different children off to all sorts of extra-curricular activities including netball, soccer (of course), cross country, touch football, and the list goes on.
Once my youngest turned school age I decided it was time to do something for me so I decided to try to enrol in Uni and what do you know I was accepted! Biggest shock of my life receiving that email. I have worked as a taxation consultant in the tax season for a few years and found I rather enjoyed working with numbers (quite strange as I have ALWAYS been an English girl) so I decided to try my hand with accounting. And of course one of the first things that I read in the introduction is that accounting is NOT just working with numbers. Because nothing is ever easy right?
So here I sit writing a blog wondering if anyone will ever actually read this and still wondering what connection all this has with accounting. If you’ve made it this far congratulations! I guess it’s time for me to say until next time and begin my journey to see where it shall lead me…..
Until next time.
Cheers
Hi Jessie,
Thanks for dropping over and saying hi. OMG go you super mum! If you can handle 6 children then this will be a breeze for you! I was the same, I did’nt decided to study until my son went to school. We homeschool him until he was grade 2 and feel there’s years left in my working life and needed my career/identity back. Hope to catch you around online 🙂
